You need a tilde (~) from time to time for mathematical calculations, in Spanish or for commands in the terminal. How to insert the symbol on the Mac is explained in the following instructions.

Insert tilde (~)
Go to the desired location and press the key combination [Alt] + [N] . Then enter a space to make the tilde appear.

Insert superscript tilde (ñ)
If you would like to type a superscript tilde at ñ, as is often found in Spanish, also enter [Alt] + [N] . Then tap [N] so that the ñ is displayed.
