When we buy a new Chromebook , the first thing we have to do is configure several options to fully personalize our experience. In the following article we will see how we should do it step by step..
How to set up a Chromebook for the first time
The first step will be to open the lid of your Chromebook to turn it on. You then choose whether to do the setup for yourself or for your child or someone else.
Now, enter your Google email. If you are setting up for a child, it is best to create an account for them..
Once you have entered or created your email address, click “Next”. If your account has two-factor authentication enabled, you must enter the verification code that will arrive on your mobile.
Now that you're signed in with your Google account, you'll get a notice of what will automatically sync to your Chromebook. You can review your sync options after you've finished setup. Then click on “Accept and continue”..
On the next screen you will see the terms and conditions of the Google Play service. To accept them, you must click on the "More" option at the bottom of the screen.
Underneath, you'll see all of your Chromebook settings, such as Google Drive backups, location, and more. It is not recommended to disable these two options, since with them you can recover your information at any time.
Once you have chosen the Google Play options, click on “Accept”. With this we will have finished the initial configuration, although we are not finished yet.
You can then choose to take a tour to learn a little more about how your Chromebook works, or skip it.
How to update and install all apps and extensions
Any extensions or themes that you have installed in Google Chrome will be installed automatically. On the other hand, there will also be some pre-installed Android apps on your Chromebook. However, they will also need to be updated.
To update all apps at once, tap on the clock in the lower left corner of the screen. Then click on “Update All”. When you do, Google Play will open and begin the process.
After that, you will be able to see on the home screen of Google Play all the apps that it suggests to download on your Chromebook. Check the checkbox next to those apps you want to install. When you have finished with the selection, click on “Install”.
Once the extensions and apps are installed on your Chromebook, you're ready to go. It only remains to log in to your favorite websites and that's it.
