No need to hide it, among all your Instagram subscribers how many are actually friends? A small handful at most? By posting a story on Instagram, you risk unwittingly revealing part of your private life..
To avoid unpleasant surprises, it is recommended to keep certain information confidential. Obviously the ideal solution would be to reduce his dependence on social networks and delete his Instagram account. But it must be admitted, in the 21st century this option may seem anecdotal.
If you are one of those people who cannot imagine spending a day away from Instagram, know that it is possible to reduce the visibility of some of its stories. In the rest of this tutorial, we will show you how to put measures in place to protect your privacy and your images..
Hide your stories from one or more subscribers
Like many Instagram users, you left your profile public. Concretely, this means that your stories and your posts are visible to everyone, including people who do not have an Instagram account. Do a test and type in the web browser of your computer, the URL of your Instagram profile. In this example we have taken that of our site but you can replace the name of our account with yours: https://www.instagram.com/prodigemobile/
For the sake of confidentiality, it is possible to limit access to its stories. In this tutorial, you will learn how to hide a story from a group of followers. With this method, you will be able to secure your photos and better control who has access to your publications. And the good news is that the operation is done in minutes.
- Open the Instagram app on your Android smartphone or iPhone
- Click on the profile icon at the bottom right of the window
- Click on the Menu button (3 horizontal bars) located in the upper right corner
- Select the Settings option then Privacy
- Look for the Story section then click on it
- Select the option Hide the story then place your finger on the mention people
- Check the box to the right of the name of the person you want to hide your story from
- Click the finish button on an iPhone and the back arrow on an Android smartphone
Obviously, Instagram gives you the possibility to modify this selection at any time. To do this, simply return to the Instagram privacy page as explained above and uncheck the box of the person to whom you want to give access to your story.
Important detail, followers excluded from your stories are not blocked. They will be able to continue to view your posts, photos, videos on Instagram. Only access to your stories is disabled. Likewise, these followers will not receive any notification related to your approach.
Create a special group for your stories
We all have subscribers on Instagram with whom we share good times and who are more than just followers. For them, Instagram has launched the close friends feature. This is a list in which you will be able to add your friends, your classmates, the members of your family with whom you feel close.
- Open the Instagram app
- Go back to the Privacy menu as shown in the section just above
- Click on Story then on Close Friends (more precisely on the mention people)
- Add your best friends
The next time you create a story, you'll see a Nearby Friends button appear at the bottom of the window. These semi-private stories will therefore only be visible to subscribers that you have added to the close friends list. This is a useful option for posting private content that you don't want to show to everyone.
Unlike a classic story, these publications are topped with a small green circle. Your subscribers will be able to know that you have added them to your list of close friends. However, you are the only one who can access the entire list.
