VIRTUALIZING WITH VMWARE WINDOWS 7 (SEVEN)

In this case we will open our Vcenter Server. In our Cluster we will select the HOTS where we will host our Windows Seven Virtualized and we will give the "CREATE A NEW VIRTUAL MACHINE" option on the central screen .

  • We will be selecting the "CUSTOM" option, since we will have many more options. We give "NEXT".
  • Assign the new virtual machine a name and select the location where you want to place the virtual machine under Inventory Inventory. Then we give "NEXT".
  • Select the data warehouse as to where you want to place your virtual machine. Then we give "NEXT".

  • As we are using the latest vSphere 4, we will select the version of the virtual machine 7. Then we will give it "NEXT".
  • Select the chosen operating system. In this tutorial we are going to create a virtual machine for Windows 7 32-BIT. Then we give "NEXT".
  • Select the number of virtual CPUs that you want to assign to the virtual machine. Then we give "NEXT".
  • Select the memory number that you want to assign to the Virtual Machine. Then we give "NEXT".
  • Select the network you want to attach the virtual NIC as well. Also change the adapter to vmxnet3 as it is the latest and best VMware network adapter. Basically, it includes many more features compared to the others. Then we give "NEXT".
  • The wizard will select the best SCSI controller depending on the guest operating system you chose previously. Then we give "NEXT".
  • Select Create a new virtual disk and click Next. As you can see, you can also use an existing virtual disk (*. Vmdk).
  • Select the capacity of the virtual disk. I'm going to allocate 15 GB to my Windows 7 virtual machine. I'm going to use full provisioning, which means that I'm going to allocate the entire 15GB immediately. I also have the option to use "Thin Provisioning", which allows you to use only what is required, however, the disk will grow up to a maximum of 15 GB. I am not using fault tolerance features, and I want to save the virtual disk in the same data store as my virtual machine files. Then we give "NEXT".

  • This is the first disk in my virtual machine, therefore, it will be assigned SCSI (0: 0) by default. Then we give "NEXT".
  • In this screen, we summarize all the parameters that we have selected. Click the check box next to Edit virtual machine settings before completion.
  • If we are satisfied with our configuration we will give "FINALIZE" .
  • In this screen we will have the settings of the virtual machine. If you need to make changes in memory, CPU, hard disk, virtual devices, etc. This is the place to do it. Click on the Options tab.

In a few minutes we will have running our Windows Seven Virtualized.
