I leave my first contribution in the TechnoWikis Tutorials, then I show you how to change the DSRM directory services restoration password, which is the password to be able to enter that mode and restore the Active Directory before any eventuality that may arise.

To enter that mode and restore the Active Directory we just have to restart the server and press F8 there we will see the possibility of entering that mode and restore the System State or System State.

I have found many times that many System Administrators and clients did not know this password. This password is entered when installing the Domain if it is a DC or servers. To be able to reset it or change it, you just have to do the following:
  • start with sufficient privileges (domain admin) and on a computer that has the PDC role (Role of the Domain's Main Controller).
  • We open an MS-DOS window and write.
  • ntdsutil
  • set dsrm password
  • reset password on Server DC1 (DC1 would be the name of the Domain Controller) or

(Si es para cambiar el password DSRM del servidor donde estas logado) reset password on server null (If it is to change the DSRM password of the server where you are logged in)
  • We write the new password
  • We will write it again to confirm
  • quit
  • quit
We would already have it changed and we could log in without problems in that mode.
