There are two ways to turn off the microphone on your Xbox Series S:
Muting the Microphone:
This is a temporary solution that quickly disables your mic for the current session or app you're using. Here's how to do it:
- Press the Xbox button on your controller.
- Navigate to the party or chat you want to mute your mic in (if applicable).
Option 1: Using the Guide * If you're not already in a party or chat, you can access your profile and microphone settings through the guide. Navigate to the far right section of the home screen and select your profile picture.
* From there, choose "Audio settings" and then "Headset mic." Here, you can adjust the microphone volume or mute it entirely using the toggle switch.
Option 2: Within a Party or Chat * If you're already in a party or chat, you can mute your mic directly within that specific window. * Press the Y button on your controller to mute/unmute your microphone.
Disabling Microphone Access:
This method prevents all apps from accessing your microphone until you enable it again. Here's how:
- Press the Xbox button on your controller.
- Navigate to Settings.
- Go to Privacy & online safety.
- Select App privacy.
- Choose Microphone.
- Here, you can toggle the switch to allow or block all apps from using your microphone.
You can also choose specific apps to allow or deny microphone access by going through the list and adjusting permissions for each one.
