The widgets in Windows 11 do not load or not load correctly? You can find the solution to this problem here!

With the Windows 11 update came many new features. The start menu and the taskbar have been redesigned. You can now display widgets symbols there. These are small, useful Windows apps that provide information about the current weather or news, for example. But sometimes these don't work. But you can fix that with just a few clicks.

Windows 11: Show widgets

It is possible that your widgets have not disappeared or are broken, but simply hidden. You can show them again with two clicks:

1st step:

image
Right click on the taskbar and select " Taskbar Settings ". In the settings you have to set the slider to the right / blue so that the widgets symbol is displayed in the system tray.

2nd step:

You can then call up the widgets using the icon at the bottom left. So you get the latest information straight away. If you are no longer interested, click the slider again so that it is on the left / gray. The widgets are then hidden.

Repair widgets by signing in with a Microsoft account

Sometimes the widgets do not display properly on the desktop because you are not signed in to the computer with a Microsoft account. But this problem can be easily fixed:

1st step:

image
Open the settings and click on the tab " Accounts " on the left . On the right side you then have to select the item " E-Mail & Accounts ".

2nd step:

Your saved accounts will now be displayed. If none is stored, you can sign in with your Microsoft account via " Add Microsoft Account ". You can then open another menu using the arrow symbol next to an existing account. Here you have to click the point " Sign-in options " to set " Microsoft apps are allowed to sign me in ". You should now see the widgets.

Display widgets via graphics card driver

Especially if you have upgraded from Windows 10 to Windows 11 on a computer with compatibility problems, the widgets may display errors. These may then only be displayed partially or not at all. This may be because your graphics card driver or video chip is too old. In this case, you can temporarily deactivate it. To do this, follow our step-by-step instructions or take a look at the brief instructions ..

1st step:

image
Right - click the start icon and click " Device Manager ".

2nd step:

image
Right-click on your graphics card, which is listed under " Graphics cards ". Then select " Settings ".

3rd step:

image
In the new window you have to open the tab " Driver " at the top . Click on " Deactivate device " at the bottom . As soon as you open the widget overview, they will be displayed correctly. Follow steps 1 to 3 again, but then select " Activate device ". Your widgets will now be displayed correctly until the next restart. Unfortunately, the settings are reset with every restart - Microsoft has not yet offered a permanent solution.

Quick guide: display widgets via graphics card driver

  1. Right-click the start button, then select Device Manager .
  2. Now go down to the point " Graphics Cards " and click with the right mouse button on the displayed device. Then select " Settings ".
  3. In the settings, click on the " Driver " tab at the top and select the " Deactivate device " button at the bottom . Now the widgets should work. You can then reactivate the device. You have to carry out this procedure every time you restart Windows 11, because the settings will then be reset.
