Encrypt PDFs with the PDF24 Creator

Follow our step-by-step instructions or take a look at the quick start guide .

1st step:

Upload the document to be encrypted using the " PDF Printer Assistant " in the PDF24 Creator.

2nd step:

To upload, click on the " plus " in the top left corner or simply drag the file into the white area with the mouse button held down.

When your PDF is uploaded, click the Save As field .

Select " Security " in the column on the left and mark " Protect Document ". Then enter a password and select the actions (printing, editing, ...) for which your PDF should be protected with the password. In this tipps + tricks article, we explain how to find a secure password. If you want to make sure that your PDF file cannot be opened in the first place, select " Password required to open " and enter a password for this too. Confirm your entries by clicking on " Next " ".

Finally, all you have to do is click " Save " to save your protected PDF file.

quick start Guide

  1. Upload the document using the " PDF Printer Assistant " in the PDF24 Creator.
  2. Now go to " Save as ".
  3. Select the menu item " Security " in the bar on the left .
  4. Now select " Protect document " and enter a " Password for encryption ". You can also choose the actions for which your PDF should be password-protected.
  5. If you want to prevent that your PDF cannot be opened in the first place without a password, also select " Password required to open " and enter a password again.
  6. Now click on “ Next ”.
  7. To save the document, click on " Save ".
