If the home button on your iPhone no longer works properly or is completely defective, the device can hardly be used. But even with a defective home button, you don't have to send your smartphone in for repair straight away. With a little luck, one of our tips will help you.

Recalibrate the home button

Calibrating the home button is not an official Apple solution for home button problems, but the method probably helped for some iPhone users and the home button worked perfectly again afterwards. So it's worth a try:

  1. Open any app on your smartphone.
  2. Hold down the power button on the right-hand side until the window for turning off the iPhone appears.
  3. Do not switch off the iPhone , but keep the home button pressed until the app reappears and closes. If you are lucky, the home button is now set correctly again.

Replace the home button with AssistiveTouch

If the calibration was unsuccessful and you don't want to spend money on repairing the Home Button, you can use AssistiveTouch. This is a virtual power button that appears on the iPhone display.

You can find out how to activate Assistive Touch in our step-by-step instructions or in the brief instructions ..
