If you want to skip the lock screen when logging into Windows 10, you can deactivate it. We explain how to do it..

Each time you start your Windows PC, you will first be taken to the lock screen. You have to click on this in order to then log in to the login screen with your password. If you find the lock screen annoying, you can turn it off on Windows 10 Home. For Windows 10 Pro, try to disable the lock screen using group policies.

Deactivate the lock screen in Windows 10 Home

In Windows 10, you have the option of using the registry editor to create an additional entry (or key) that deactivates the lock screen. Attention, you need admin rights for this. Follow our step-by-step instructions , the quick start guide or the explanatory video ..

1st step:

Press the key combination [Windows] + [R] to open " Run ". Enter " regedit " here and click " OK ".

Now navigate to the Computer \ HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Policies \ Microsoft \ Windows \ Personalization folder . To do this, you can simply paste the path into the bar at the top or navigate there using the folder bar on the left. The Personalization folder may not exist. In this case, look at the next two steps, otherwise you can skip them.

3rd step:

If the " Personalization " folder does not appear, you have to create it first. To do this, right-click on the " Windows " folder and select " New "> " Key ".

Name the newly created folder " Personalization " and confirm with [Enter] .

5th step:

Now right-click on the newly created or already existing " Personalization " folder and select " New "> " DWORD value (32 bit) ".

Name the newly created entry " NoLockScreen " and confirm again with [Enter] .

Then double-click the " NoLockScreen " entry and change the value from 0 to 1 . Finish the process with " OK ".

Press the key combination [Windows] + [R] and enter " gpedit.msc ". Then click on " OK ".

Navigate in the menu on the left in the following order: " Computer Configuration "> " Administrative Templates "> " Control Panel "> " Customize ". Double-click on the entry " Do not show lock screen ".

In the window that opens, select the " Activated " option . End the process with a click on " OK ".

  1. Simultaneously press the [Windows] + [R] keys and enter " regedit ". Click " OK " .
