Would you like to display the WiFi password on your iPhone? Since iOS 11 this has only been possible indirectly..

Since the update to iOS 11, it is no longer possible to display the WiFi password directly on the iPhone. To increase security, this function has been removed. Other devices can use the new share function in the WLAN. If you have a Mac, you can look up the password there. We'll show you how both work in our article:

Share password

In order to be able to share the password with other people, these requirements must be met:

• Both devices must have at least iOS 11 installed, but the latest update is better
• Bluetooth must be activated on both devices
• Transmitter and receiver must each other in the contacts are
• the transmitter must be connected to the WLAN from which the password is to be shared

Now for the actual guide. Follow our step-by-step instructions or take a look at the quick start guide :

1st step:

On the iPhone with which you want to connect to the WLAN, open the settings and tap on " WLAN ".

2nd step:

Select the WLAN that you are connected to and that the other device should be connected to.

3rd step:

This pop-up should appear on your own iPhone after a short while . Tap " Share Password ".

4th step:

The other iPhone is now connected to the WLAN and the message " Completed " appears on your device . Tap on " Done ". Now the other person can also use your WLAN. The password was not displayed, but it was shared anyway.

Display the password via the Mac keychain

If you want to look up the password, for example to find out for devices that are not from Apple, you only have the option of doing this via a Mac . There is the so-called " keychain management " in which all passwords are stored. Our article " Mac: Displaying the WLAN password " explains in more detail how you can find the WLAN password there.

Quick guide: share password

1. Make sure that you have met all of the requirements for sharing the WiFi.
2. On the iPhone with which you want to connect to the WLAN (i.e. the receiver), open the settings and tap on " WLAN ".
3. Tap on the network and wait briefly until a pop-up window appears on the sender's device .
4. From there, tap on " Share password ". The recipient's iPhone should now connect to the selected WLAN.
