For some emails it is important to know whether the recipient has actually read it. There is a read receipt in Outlook for this. As soon as the recipient has read your email, you will automatically receive a confirmation. You can choose whether you want to send just a single email or all emails with a read receipt. In our tips + tricks we will show you how you can activate both options in Outlook.

Send all emails automatically with read receipt

In the Outlook settings, you can specify that read receipts should be requested for all sent e-mails. Follow our step-by-step instructions or take a look at the brief instructions .

A new window will now open. Now select the " E-Mail " tab on the left and scroll down until you come to the " History " section . Check the box next to " Read receipt that confirms that the message has been displayed by the recipient ". When you are finished, click OK "to save your selection. From now on, a read receipt will be automatically requested from the recipient for every e-mail you send. You will receive the confirmation by e-mail as soon as the recipient has opened your message. Please note, however, that this is still no guarantee this is because the recipient has really read your e-mail, since all they have to do is open it.

Send only selected e-mails with read receipt

If you don't need read receipts for every one of your emails, you can set them up only for the emails you want. Follow our step-by-step instructions or take a look at the brief instructions ..

You will receive the confirmation by email as soon as the recipient has opened your message. Please note, however, that this is just a confirmation that the recipient has opened the e-mail, but has not necessarily read it.
