You can use the compatibility mode to launch outdated games and programs on Windows 10 as well. How exactly, we explain here..

If your favorite game or special program is so out of date that it is no longer compatible with Windows 10, don't be downcast. Because with the so-called compatibility mode you can also run long outdated software on Microsoft's Windows 10. And we explain how easy it is here.

How to launch old software in compatibility mode

1st step:

Look for the .exe file of the program you want to start. You can usually find this in the folder of the program. Alternatively, you can also enter exe in the Windows search guide below and open the file location of the respective file. Make a right click on the file and then click " Properties ".

2nd step:

A new window will now open. Switch to the " Compatibility " tab .

3rd step:

Now check the box next to "Run this program in compatibility mode for: " and open the drop-down menu below. Now select the Windows version with which the program is still compatible. You have the choice from Windows 95 to Windows 8 .

4th step:

Then click the " Apply " button to save the new settings. You can then start the old program as normal.

3. Check the box next to " Run program in compatibility mode for: " and select the Windows version with which the old program is still compatible from the drop-down menu .
