When you get a lot of emails, it's normal not always to be able to remember which one was important. But Outlook can help you out. With a follow-up, you have the option of marking certain e-mails for which you still want to complete a task or an appointment. This will automatically remind you to edit a message again.

How to set up a follow-up in Outlook

Follow our step-by-step instructions or take a look at the brief instructions .

1st step:

Open Outlook and click on " File " in the upper left corner .

Continue with " Options " on the left edge of the window.

Then open the " Tasks " category on the left . Here you can make the desired settings under " Task options". Also click on the " Quick click ... " button .

Now select a desired reminder time from the drop-down menu at which an e-mail from the reminder should be processed. Then click OK in all open windows .

Then open the e-mail in Outlook that you want to add to the reminder. Then click on " Categories " in the top ribbon and select " For Follow Up " and " Flag This Message " in turn . Alternatively, you can simply click on the flag symbol behind a message.

You should now see that your email is marked with a red flag for resubmission.

quick start Guide

  1. In Outlook, open the " File " category in the upper left corner .
  2. Then click on " Options " on the left .
  3. In the " Tasks " category you can now make the desired settings under " Task options".
  4. Then click on " Quick click ... " to select a desired reminder time at which an email from the reminder should be processed.
  5. Then click " OK " several times to close all open windows.
  6. Now open the email that you would like to add to the follow-up.
  7. On the top ribbon, click Categories , then select For Follow Up and Flag This Message .
  8. Your e-mail will then be added to the resubmission, which you can recognize by the red flag behind it.
