If you purchase a new version of Office, you have to change the key in the current version. That's the case when you upgrade to a newer Office or when you upgrade from a version for work to a home version. However, Microsoft made this very easy.

In either case, you must then select " Enter product key instead ".

4th step:

Enter the key, then select " Install this product instead ". Now follow the instructions from your office software. Office may have to reinstall itself or perform an update so that you have to close and restart the program.

quick start Guide

  1. Open an Office product that is installed on your computer. This can be Word, for example.
  2. Click on " File, " then click on " Account " at the bottom . There you can then go to " Change license " on the right .
  3. The next step depends on whether you are currently signed in to Office. When you are logged in, click on " Use a different account " first. In both cases you must then click on " Enter product key instead ".
  4. Now you can enter your product key and then select " Install this product instead " to activate the new key. Now you need to follow the steps in the Office app. This will update and possibly restart.
