Google Discover is a service that offers you a news feed on your smartphone or tablet. News and articles from the Internet are presented in the form of so-called "cards". The special thing about it: The information displayed is filtered and personalized. You only see news on topics that interest you - so Discover creates a filter bubble. This article explains how to activate Google Discover on your device and how to use it afterwards.

How to enable Google Discover

Open the Google app on your device. For Android devices, tap on the three dots at the bottom right to open the menu. To do this, tap on your profile picture or your initial on the iPhone or iPad .

Android (left): Then go to " My data in Google search ". iOS (right): Tap " Search History ".

On Android devices (left) tap on "Control over all Google products" on " Web & app activities ". On iOS devices (right) go to " Save to Web & App Activities ".

Activate " Web & App Activities " using the slider (Android, left). For iOS devices (right) tap on " Activate ".

The last step is the same for Android and iOS: Confirm the process by tapping on " Activate " at the bottom and then on " OK ". Now, among other things, your search queries and your browser history will be saved in your Google account. On this basis, Google Discover shows you content. You can also influence this content yourself .

How to use Google Discover

If you have activated "Web & App Activities" in your Google app, Google Discover will create a news feed based on your activities. If you need a news update, open Discover: To do this, either go to the Google app on your smartphone or tablet or go to google.com in your browser. On some Android devices, simply swiping to the right is enough.

Open the Google app and tap on " More " in the lower right corner (on iOS devices on your profile picture or your initial).

To follow a topic and provider, tap on the heart at the bottom of the relevant message card. For more options go to the three dots in the lower right corner.
