You have been able to make video calls on your smartphone for a long time using the mobile app from the WhatsApp messenger service . The function was only introduced in the desktop version at the beginning of 2021.

Requirements for video calls on the computer via WhatsApp desktop: You need at least 64-bit version 1903 on Windows 10 and at least version 10.13 of the desktop app on macOS. Your device must also have an internet connection, a camera and a microphone. How to start a video call using WhatsApp desktop

1st step:

Open your one-on-one chat with the person you want to call. Click on the camera symbol in the bar at the top .

2nd step:

A new window opens for the call. If the person you are talking to accepts the call, the video call starts.

3rd step:

During the call, just like on a mobile phone, you can mute or reactivate your microphone by clicking the microphone symbol at the bottom of the call window . You can also use the camera symbol to switch your camera on and off. To the call end , click down on the red phone icon .

How to answer a video call on WhatsApp desktop

When you get a video call on WhatsApp desktop, you have three options:

• Accept: Click on " Accept ".
• Decline: Click on " Decline ".
• Ignore: Click the " x " in the top left.

How to switch between voice and video calls
