This article shows you how to customize the folder icons on Windows..

Always the same, monotonous picture of a pale yellow folder. For more variety or a clearer structure in your file explorer, you can adapt the display icon for your file folder. As? Find out in the following article.

Hints:

- This tip can only be used for folders and shortcuts you have created yourself. Unfortunately, it does not work with the standard folders and drives preset by Windows.

- If you set icons instead of the regular folder symbol, the folder contents will no longer be displayed without the folder being open..

Follow our step-by-step instructions or take a look at the brief instructions .

1st step:

Make a right click on the folder for which you want to change the icon, and then go to " Properties ".

2nd step:

Switch to the " Customize " tab . There you go under " Folder symbols " on the button " Other symbol ... ".

3rd step:

You will then be shown a list of various icons that you can use as folder symbols. Select the desired icon and confirm with " OK ".

4th step:

Finally click on " Apply ".

Note: To undo your change , you have to click on " Default values "..

Change picture within the folder symbol

In addition to a completely separate icon for your folder, you can also specify the image that is displayed within the folder icon:

1st step:

Make a right click on the folder and go to " Properties ". Change in the new window to the tab " Customize " to go under " Pictures folder " to " Select File " and then " OK ".

2nd step:

Finally, select your desired image and click on " Open ".

3rd step:

To finish the process, confirm your selection with " Apply ".

Note: This change can be reversed to make by clicking on " Restore click".

quick start Guide

1. Right- click the folder you want to change the icon for, then click Properties .
2. Go to the " Customize " tab and then under " Folder symbols " to " Other symbol ... "
3. Click on the symbol that you want to define as the new folder picture and confirm your selection with " OK ".
