There comes a point where hiding unwanted SMS from unknown senders on our iPhone becomes a necessity. It is not at all abnormal to be receiving messages from promotions, advertisements or from people we do not know. Luckily, iOS has several configuration options to prevent unknown senders from bothering us..
How to filter unknown senders in SMS
To hide unwanted SMS from unknown senders, the first thing we will have to do is click on Settings.
Once we are in Settings, we will go to "Messages"..
In messages, we will have to scroll down until we find the "Message filtering" section. Here we will have to activate the switch next to "Filter unknown senders" so that this way it is enabled.
After this, we are going to close Settings. From now on, whenever we receive text messages from numbers that are not in the contact list, the Messaging application will classify them as "Known" and "Unknown"..
How to manage unknown senders in SMS on our iPhone
In order to see the messages from unknown senders, we will have to open the Messages application and navigate to the main screen (press the arrow in the upper left corner if necessary) after this, click on "Unknown senders".
If we want to change this "unknown" sender to a "known" sender, we will have to click on his message in the list of "Unknown senders", after that we click on his number in the upper central part of the screen.
In this new window, we will have to press "Information".
Here we will have to click on "Create new contact" or "Add to existing contact" and we will have to follow the instructions that appear on the screen.
After adding the number to our contact list, it will no longer appear in the unknown senders list.
If we seek to permanently block your messages, we will have to press one of the messages in the list of "Unknown senders", then we will click on their number at the top. In this new window, we will have to click on "Information". Once here, we simply touch "Block this person".
Mute notifications from unknown senders
Even if we have the “Filter unknown senders” option enabled, the Messages app will still alert us with a notification when we receive a text message. In case you want to avoid this, there is an option in Settings to achieve it.
We go to Settings> Notifications> Messages> Customize notifications. The next thing to do is to move the switch next to Unknown senders and disable it.
After this, every time we receive an SMS from unknown senders on iPhone, we will no longer have to deal with notifications.
