How to show or hide formatting marks in Word.

It is entirely possible to show or hide formatting marks in Word . These are special characters which, by default, are hidden and affect the way the text is displayed in our document. The main idea is to reveal spaces, tabs, line breaks, paragraphs and section breaks in the document.

The format tab cannot be printed; If any of the formatting marks is active in Word, it shows hidden characters, we can choose to show all the marks..

How to show or hide formatting marks in Word.

We will have to follow the steps that we will detail below to show or hide the formatting marks in Microsoft Word.

  • To show the formatting marks, we will have to click on File.
  • Next, we will click on Options.
  • A dialog opens and we will click on Show in the left sidebar.
  • In the “Always show these formatting marks on the screen” section, we will have to enable one or more formatting marks, that is, if we wish, we simply mark the checkbox.
  • It is also possible to click the Show all formatting marks checkbox to be able to display all the marks in question.
  • When we finish we click on accept.
  • In order to hide the formatting marks, we simply repeat the previous procedure and that's it.
