How to move an Android app to SD card

Obviously, some phones do not have a good storage space. Worst of all, it is quite normal for us to have several applications installed and many of these can become too heavy, like Facebook, which over time can weigh hundreds of megabytes. However, in case our device supports an SD card, it is possible to install and move Android apps to it. This will help us save a lot of space in the internal storage of the device..

In case the idea is to save space, we can always resort to cloud storage to leave our files on the network. Something very positive because it will also allow us to access these regardless of where we are.

Before starting

Android apps are installed in the internal storage of our device. In case we have an SD card, it is feasible to move some of the apps that we already have installed, although this works with some, not all..

We have to consider that finding devices that support SD cards is a bit tricky these days, so the functionality has been noticeably affected as well. However, a little further down we will show what we must do to install and move Android applications to an SD card.

Something to consider before proceeding is that running an app from an SD card will always be slower than running it from internal storage. We recommend using this option whenever absolutely necessary..

How to move an Android app to SD card

The first thing we will do is enter Settings, we can do it from the icon in the application drawer or swipe from the top of the screen, once or twice depending on the device and click on the gear-shaped icon.

Once we are in Settings, we are going to look for Applications.

We may have to click on See all applications at the bottom to see all the apps that are installed.

We look for the application that we want to move and select it.

Now we are going to see a page with all the information of the application. Here we will have to choose Storage or Storage and cache, again it depends on the device.

In case the app supports a transfer to the SD card, then we will see a button that will say Change, so we click on it.

A message will appear that will give us two options: Internal storage and SD card, we will choose the latter.

Then a small warning appears, it is not of great importance, we just press Move.

We are going to see a progress bar, when it is finished it will mean that the application is already on the SD card and we will return to the Settings app.
