Factory reset a smart watch
Apple Watch
Galaxy Watch
Fitbit Sense and Fitbit Versa series
Wear OS 2

There are several reasons why we decide to factory reset a smart watch , perhaps we have a problem, we want to sell it or give it away. Whatever the reason, resetting it from factory is extremely simple and in the following guide, we will see how to achieve it on any type of smartwatch..

Factory reset a smart watch

Apple Watch

If we have added our Apple Watch to our mobile plan, the first thing we must do is disconnect it:

  • Let's go to the Watch app on iPhone.
  • We press Cellular and then select the information icon right next to our plan.
  • We will choose Delete.

This should be more than enough. Although, as we can see on Apple's support page , in some cases, we may have to contact our provider to disconnect the watch. This is something we must plan for, especially if we are going to sell the watch.

Now, to reset Apple Watch:

  • We open the Apple Watch Settings app.
  • We go to General and then we scroll down, until we find Reset.
  • Now we will select Erase all content and settings.
  • We will have to confirm by entering the password.

Galaxy Watch

There are several ways to reset the Galaxy Watch 4, we can do it directly from the watch or from the phone. In the same way as with Apple Watch, if we have a mobile version, we will first have to remove it from the plan..

  • We open the Galaxy Wearable app.
  • We press Clock settings.
  • We scroll down and press Mobile Plans.
  • We eliminated the clock from our plan.

In case we have any kind of problem, we should contact our supplier to solve it.

In order to restart from the watch we will have to do the following:

  • Let's go to Settings.
  • Then to General.
  • Now we slide to Reset.
  • In case we have not done so already, we recommend creating a backup copy of our data.
  • Finally, we press Reset and enter the security code if we have one.

On the other hand, if we want to reset it from the phone, we will have to do the following:

  • We open the Galaxy Wearable application.
  • We click on Clock Settings > General.
  • We scroll down until we find the Reset option.
  • We unlock the Galaxy Watch 4 and confirm the action.
  • If you have a code, we will have to enter it.

Fitbit Sense and Fitbit Versa series

In this case, none of them have cellular connectivity, so we won't have to worry about that in this case..

  • Let's go to Settings on the watch.
  • We are looking for About.
  • We choose Factory Reset.
  • We confirm to reset the clock.

Wear OS 2

The only one that has cellular capabilities is the Fossil Gen 5 LTE, which is only available to Verizon customers. In this case we should consult with our operator to deactivate connectivity. With the rest, we simply proceed to reset them.

  • We scroll down and choose the Settings gear wheel.
  • We navigate to Sistema.
  • We scroll down again and press Disconnect and reset or Unpair with phone. These options may change depending on the device.
  • Finally, we confirm that we are going to restart it.

As we can see, factory resetting a smart watch, whether because we want to give it away or sell it, is an extremely quick and easy process in all cases.
