The error is human and, fortunately, Apple is well aware of it. This is why the Cupertino company allows its customers to request a refund for paid applications and content purchased by mistake on iTunes or the App Store.

While looking at your invoice, you may have noticed unexplained expenses made on the App Store or iTunes. Expenses related to the purchase of paid applications, a subscription, or even other types of paid content for which you do not remember having paid.

It may simply be a mishandling on your part or by someone close to you. Fortunately, Apple allows you to submit a refund request.

Request a refund

To obtain a refund from Apple, you must request it on the site dedicated to Apple problems ( reportaproblem.apple.com ). Sign in with the Apple account from which the purchase was made in error.

Please note that only purchases made within a maximum period of 90 days can be the subject of a refund request.

Once connected, you will be able to see all of the paid applications and content that you have purchased, voluntarily or not.

Find and select the application or content for which you wish to obtain a refund and press "Report a problem".

From the "Select a problem" drop-down list, choose the "I did not authorize this purchase" option. You must complete your request by explaining the situation in the space provided. Then send your request by selecting "Send".

Apple will then take note of your file and, after study, will come back to you to tell you whether or not the refund is granted. Apple may refer you to the developer of the application. In this case, you will have to contact the latter to hope to recover your money.

Avoid this kind of problem

It is possible to avoid this kind of unwanted purchase in your iPhone settings. To do this, go to Settings, "Restrictions on content and confidentiality, then" Purchases in the iTunes and the App Store ". Finally, check the "Do not authorize" option in the case of "Integrated purchasing".
