The management of data carriers is especially necessary when different hard disks are in use or when these are to be formatted. But where can you find disk management in Windows 10?

Find Disk Management in Windows 10

Disk Management can be opened in Windows 10 with just a few clicks. However, you need administrator rights to do this . If you are already logged in as an account with administrator rights, simply follow these instructions. If you know the admin password but your user account does not have admin rights, follow the second instruction . Right- click the Windows icon in the lower left corner of the system tray . Then select the context menu " Disk Management from".

After a short while, the connected hard disks and other data carriers will be listed here.

Right click on any of the hard drives to perform various actions. For example, you can click " Format " to erase all data on the hard drive. Drive letters can also be changed here.

Call up disk management under Windows 10 without admin rights

If you have a user account without admin rights, you may still be able to access disk management. The prerequisite for this is that you know the admin password. If this is the case, all you have to do is follow our instructions.

  1. Open the start menu and enter " diskmgmt.msc ".
  2. Right-click on the appropriate tile and select "Run as administrator ". Now you have to enter your administrator password.
  3. After that, you can use Disk Management as normal.
