Every now and then you need the advanced start options in Windows 10. With this function of Microsoft Windows you can troubleshoot problems with your PC, for example you can use it to start the safe mode, restore the system or open the command prompt. The easiest way to open the advanced startup options is to press [F8] during startup. Since this doesn't always work, there are other options that you will learn about in this article.

Follow our step-by-step instructions or take a look at the brief instructions .

Step 1:

Press the [ Windows ] key or click the Windows icon on the desktop . Then go to the power button . Now hold down the [ Shift ] key and click on " Restart ".

In UEFI then click the " Troubleshooting ". This will take you to the advanced options, where you can start safe mode in "Windows Startup Settings", for example.

If Windows does not start

If Windows doesn't start at all, our first two instructions won't work. You can then try the following:

  1. Switch the PC on with the on button and then off again immediately.
  2. Repeat this several times, Windows 10 should then automatically open the advanced startup options.

If that doesn't work either, you can still try to start Windows 10 from your installation medium (CD, stick).

  1. Connect the data carrier to your PC and start it.
  2. Click on " Next " in the language settings .
  3. Then select " Computer Repair Options" below .
  4. You will then get into the UEFI and can call up the advanced start options via " Troubleshoot ".
